Deepti Adlakha at Restorative Cities + Urban Mental Health Roundtable

NLI Director, Dr. Deepti Adlakha, was a panelist at the University of Virginia, School of Architecture’s Restorative Cities + Urban Mental Health Roundtable held on Sept. 9th, with Dr. Aaron Hipp, Associate Professor of Community Health and Sustainability, NC State University. The panel was moderated by Dr. Jenny Roe, Mary Irene DeShong Professor and Director of the Center for Design & Health, UVA School of Architecture. The panel responded to the framework laid out in Restorative Cities: Urban Design for Mental Health and Wellbeing (2021), co-authored by Professor Jenny Roe and Layla McCay. The discussion addressed the increased mental health problems people are facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis, health inequities, and the role of urban design in promoting mental health and wellbeing.
