Honeycomb Kids, located at Hopewell Elementary School in Trinity, NC, created an engaging new outdoor learning environment in an unused open grassy area. A large, double-looped primary pathway weaves throughout the space to connect various settings, such as a covered sand play area, a teepee, a stump circle for gathering, and a fruit and vegetable garden. The primary pathway is also connected to a storage area for trikes and loose parts.
A mud kitchen and a swinging bridge allow for dramatic play and build fine and gross motor skills. Two large arbors span over the primary pathway, for increased shade and the opportunity to grow vines.
