Mary Archer, PLA, MHS, is a Landscape Architect and Design Associate at NLI where she manages comprehensive programs including POD Wake County, POD4, and design assistance projects related to children and families. Mary holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from UNC at Chapel Hill and a Master of Landscape Architecture and a Master of Horticultural Science from NC State University where her research focused on the design of productive green roofs. Prior to graduate school, she gained a wide range of experience working in medical research, education, and public gardens.
Her love of horticulture began at a young age when she helped her grandfather cultivate and propagate the camellias in his garden, a hobby which she still enjoys today. She approaches design with a strong horticultural background and is interested in designing spaces that are not only beautiful and meaningful, but that also work with natural systems to create regenerative and productive landscapes.
